CURRENT RESOURCES OF “HERSTORICAL” SIGNIFICANCE
Introduction
In recent years, numerous initiatives have emerged to support women –
particularly those who have been historically marginalised – working at
the intersection of art and science. These initiatives recognise the need for
both online and in-person spaces where women can engage with the ethics
of care and explore the transformative potential of transdisciplinary art and
science practices. Rooted in the belief that feminist perspectives are
essential for advancing equality, these efforts foster collaboration, experimentation,
and dialogue, while addressing issues such as gender inequality,
scientific representation, and the need for more inclusive narratives in both
art and science. The following list features key organisations, platforms, and
networks at the forefront of supporting women in these fields. Each entry
highlights a unique initiative – ranging from community-building efforts to
interviews with leading women in their interdisciplinary practice – that offers
valuable resources, opportunities, and inspiration. While this chapter focuses
primarily on women in art-science contexts, it also gestures towards wider
feminist and rights-based movements in which women continue to play vital
roles. These include global efforts to advance social justice, advocate for
equity, and challenge structural barriers across multiple domains, including
education, policy, and humanitarian work. Together, these initiatives
foster inclusive environments where women can thrive, collaborate, and
drive meaningful change.
